Registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats
We started our journey with dairy goats because we wanted to produce our own milk and know the animals providing it were living the kind of life we believe they deserve. Our family has also experienced lactose sensitivities, including our daughter, who cannot tolerate cow's milk at all. Goat milk has been a wonderful alternative, as it is naturally easier for many people to digest thanks to its smaller fat globules and different protein structure.
Our goal is to raise animals as naturally as possible. Our goats spend their days browsing and grazing on pasture, where they can express their natural behaviors. We focus on proper nutrition, selective breeding, and responsible management rather than relying on routine medications. We practice targeted parasite management instead of whole-herd deworming, allowing us to select for goats that demonstrate natural parasite resistance while still treating individuals whenever it is necessary for their health and well-being.
We strongly believe that mothers should raise their own kids whenever possible. All kids are dam-raised unless an emergency requires us to step in. We believe this allows kids to develop naturally while preserving the excellent maternal instincts that are so important in our breeding program.
Our breeding goals extend far beyond producing beautiful goats. We strive to raise animals with excellent dairy genetics, strong and correct conformation, easy kidding ability, productive udders, sound feet and legs, good parasite resistance, and calm, friendly dispositions. Of course, we don't mind adding a little eye-catching color and flash along the way.
Whether you're looking for a competitive show prospect, a dependable family milk goat, or simply a beautiful addition to your herd, we hope we can help match you with the perfect goat from Aw Homestead.
